Fleet Tracking

The entire Bakers fleet is fitted with the most comprehensive array of on-board Global Positioning (“GPS”) tracking devices, vehicle recovery and monitoring systems found anywhere in this country. A total of three independent systems are installed on every vehicle combination.

These systems allow us to manage all aspects of the physical operation. Our national fleet (primary and secondary) are monitored and controlled by our 24 hour / 7 days a week tracking operations. The control centre is based at our head office in Pietermaritzburg.

Every operational site has access to this system to ensure on site management of their contract fleet is facilitated. If required we can ensure live access to our tracking via internet with password protection for security purposes.

Bakers Driver Training Academy: Training And Testing Programme

Our most experienced drivers have been accredited by Daimler Benz-Germany as driver trainers and now train drivers at Bakers’ own in-house training academy. All drivers are required to undergo regular advanced driver training programmes and update courses in order to focus on the core aspects of the Mercedes-Benz driving philosophy.

The programme was designed to assist drivers to reach their full potential in the application of the vehicle. The programme is balanced between practical and theory and has proven to be a major asset to the organisation; the training has enhanced driver road safety and all-round efficiency. Bakers view this as a long-term investment that will continue to generate good dividends.
